Miz Kathies, Wildwood, Florida… A Hidden Jem💖

Just traveling through going to Gainesville, I needed a quick healthy bite to eat. Accessing my Google maps, I located this little gem. Never in a million years would I think that I would find a quaint little Mom and pop’s in Wildwood Florida. The food is fresh, homemade and Marianne the chef pays close attention to detail! The wait staff is on point, tending to your every need, it doesn’t matter if it’s their table or not. The cornbread is absolutely delicious, mind you, cornbread is not my favorite. The cane butter that is served with the cornbread makes it taste like sweet corn! Baked by Emma, a sweet young girl, that just bream’s with pride! I did not enter this restaurant planning to rate them but after eating the food I had no choice. This is one time that I exposed myself and let them know that I was a food critic. Marianne the chef allowed me to taste many of their other things, fried Green tomatoes, homemade chicken salad, house salad with strawberries, key lime chili shrimp and so much more! I have to tell you this is a must-try!

Boathouse, Fort Myers Florida

A beautiful location, skillfully decorated and offers so many amenities! Pool, television, live music, food, cocktails, beers and great service. Let me tell you one thing to start, you can put that Apple Cider Vinaigrette on a dirty sneaker and it would taste good! You have to try the Thai Shrimp, they are amazing!!!! Come on out and give this spot a try, you won’t be disappointed.

DiGiorgio’s Cafe’ Largo

For our honeymoon we decided to do a Dinner, Drive-ins and Dives tour of the Keys. We were super excited to have DiGiorgio’s as the first stop. A very cozy spot and some fantastic food. The only thing that I can say negative is that the wedge salad was WAY over dressed! As far as the service went we felt a bit alienated, the regulars seemed to come first. I understand trying to keep your customer base but new customers are just as important.

The Hut 5150 Buckingham Road, Fort Myers FL

A beautiful setting on a back country road in Fort Myers. I have been here once before and the clam chowder was amazing but have heard that the recipe has changed. Being a New England Girl there’s no messing with true New England clam chowdah! Sad to say it’s, meh, meaning it’s edible but not fantastic like it was when they first reopened back in November. The menu has a variety of things to choose from but be careful a lot of the items are frozen products. In that if you want fresh stick with the salads, prime rib and catch of the day. If I had to rate the service, 2, the girls are sloppy and unkept. Not to mention, lacking in professionalism. We received food before flatware, my napkin was covered in hair! Just appalling! After or during our appetizer we were never asked how our food was, good service 101! Not to mention I had to ask another server what the specials were because my server apparently had no idea! My food rating 3.

The Bottom Line

   Food is an influential part of our daily decision-making, as we have a vested emotional connection to our food choices. Food has become a reflection of who we are, how we feel and what we crave. It holds both an intangible and tangible currency.

   Year after year, fads and trends in food are influenced by multiple factors; but, Flavor remains the constant “red thread” that connects the consumer experience. When we strip every conversation away from our food experiences, it all comes down to Flavor.
